I'm taking a little break from my stay-cation to live up to my promise of introductions and freebies. It is the 15th today and that means my very first installment of The Grapevine. Looking for a good book? Wanna get hooked on the work of a great author? Do you like free books? Come on, who doesn't? ;)
Tosca Lee is the author of the critically acclaimed Demon: A Memoir--a ForeWord Magazine Book of the Year Silver Award winner, ACFW Book of the Year second-place winner, and Christy award finalist and ChristianFictionReviews.com top pick of 2007. Her eagerly-awaited second novel, Havah: The Story of Eve, received a starred review from Publishers Weekly, 4.5 stars from Romantic Times, won a ForeWord Magazine Book of the Year Bronze Award and was named ChristianFictionReviews.com’s top pick of 2008.
A sought-after speaker and first runner-up to Mrs. United States 1998, Tosca works as a Senior Consultant for an international consulting firm. She received her B.A. in English and International Relations from Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts. She also studied at Oxford University. In her spare time, Tosca enjoys travel, cooking, history and theology.
I have had the distinct pleasure of meeting the lovely Tosca Lee and reading both of her fascinating books. Wow. Not only is she beautiful, talented, and brilliant, she writes some of the best fiction I have ever read. Period. Demon: A Memoir will change the way you view redemption, and Havah: The Story of Eve will forever recast your understanding of the fall of man. Her prose is stunning, her plots are tight and riveting, and her style is fresh and unexpected.
Tosca has graciously agreed to share her gift with my readers by offering one of her signed books (I just can't remember which!) in a blog giveaway! All you have to do is leave a comment on this post. Want to up your odds? Blog about it, Twitter, or tell your friends about the giveaway on Facebook and you can earn extra entries. For each social networking thing you do, you can have another shot at the free book. Just leave a second (or third or fourth) comment with the link to whatever you've shared.
Stay tuned on Monday for a mini-interview with Tosca and my review of her books!
*Just heard from Tosca and she's willing to give away a copy of both Demon and Havah. But I want the giveaway to be worth her while so I'm going to add a catch. If I get 30 or more entries for the contest, we'll ask Tosca to send out both of her masterpieces (two separate winners). Otherwise, the contest will be for just one book (winner chooses). Tell your friends!

ReplyDeleteI am so excited about this giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI discovered Tosca Lee because of your blog, Nicole. I have not had a chance to get a copy of either of Tosca's books, but I've been to her site and read one of her interviews.
Her themes of satan and Eve sound so intriguing. Winning a copy of either book would be awesome!

Ohh - I have not heard of Tosca Lee before, but I am always looking for good Christian Fiction.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
I'll enter the contest cause I've been waiting to see what books you enter but I'll probably just buy the books if I can get them on amazon...because I loved both your books I trust your judgement.
ReplyDeleteI would love to read one of her books! They sound very interesting.
ReplyDeleteI am finishing up reading some parenting books right now and would love to read something new by someone I've never read before!
ReplyDeleteThey sound awesome! I would love to win one. I'm going to tweet this post. How do I link to a Tweet??
ReplyDeleteI just tweeted and facebooked about the contest. :)
ReplyDeleteI've read where you've mentioned her before, and I've been interested in getting her books. They sound incredibly intriguing. Havah sounds especially cool, but I'm really interested in reading her memoir and why she entitled it "Demon." That really makes you wonder...Thanks for introducing her to us!

I really enjoy your books and blog. I discovered Tosca Lee a couple of months ago. My library had a copy of Havah which I read and fell in love with. The library didn't carry Demon so I went out and bought it. I can't wait to read it and I can't wait to read Tosca's next book. Such a unique perspective!
ReplyDeleteI would lovvve to win these!!
ReplyDeleteI tweeted!

Oh, this is so exciting! I just had supper with Tosca last night and I wish this lovely woman nothing but good things. Hopefully getting her name out there is a good thing. ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comments and for passing along the info... Not counting my comments, I think we've got 21 entries. If we make it to 30, we'll give away two books. A 1 out of 15 chance is pretty good odds, methinks.
Buena suerte!
Nicole, thanks for having me on your blog! You are a joy and an amazing author. The Moment Between is a work of pure beauty. I am so proud to call you my friend.
ReplyDeleteI like those odds and I love Tosca Lee! I haven't yet had a chance to read Demon, but it's on my list after Eric Wilson's Haunt of Jackals and John Olson's Powers. I would love to have one or both books! Thanks for this contest!
ReplyDeleteI think that Havah is the best piece of non-fiction about a Historical Biblical character that I have ever read. Havah was so intgriging to me that I could hardly put it down from the moment Eve took her first breath until she took her last. I felt that I was walking with her in every moment of her experience, and am so anxious for her next book, and to read Demon now that I realize she has another! I feel she is a best kept secret and have recommended her books to several book stores I frequent. :)
ReplyDeleteI would love to win a copy of one of Tosca's books. I've read them both and need to own them so I can loan them to everyone I know!

I haven't heard of this author, but always look forward to finding new ones to read! I love the grapevine idea! I am looking forward to being directed to awesome authors that I haven't read yet!
ReplyDeleteWow! These books sound amazing and of course I would love to have the chance to win one or both of them. Even if I do not, I will still try to get my hands on them because they sound like the kind of books that really get you mind going and make you look at things from a new perspective. Not sure how to do the thing on Facebook. If I figure it out I will make another post and let you know.
ReplyDeleteI would love to win a book of Tosca Lees.

Okay, I officially posted a blog on my facebook under the notes portion. It will only be a matter of hours before my family and friends revoke my library card because I am blogging about reading and winning free books. What can I do....I am a true book junkie at heart!
ReplyDeleteHavah looks fantastic! (As does Demon, but I'm especially attracted to a novelization of Eve!) Thanks for bringing it to our attention - it's on my reading list for sure, whether I win it or not :)
ReplyDeleteSounds like some great books. I'd love to read them. wb
