The Grapevine: Travis Thrasher

I don't remember which one of you guessed TT were the initials of my next spotlight, but you were right! ;) You should get a prize or something, but I'm afraid bragging rights will have to do.

I met Travis when I signed my first contract with Tyndale House Publishing. He was the director of Author Relations at the time, and I made a total fool of myself by not realizing that he was also a multi-published author. Poor guy had seven or eight books under his belt at the time--sadly, I can be pretty clueless. Anyway, he forgave my oversight and was incredibly kind and helpful as I bumbled my way through interviews, photo shoots, and video-tapings.

It was only after I left Chicago that I started to get to know Travis as an author. I started off by reading his debut novellas, a two-books-in-one printing of The Promise Remains and The Watermark. They're both totally tender love stories with endings that make you sigh. So I have to admit that I was shocked a year later to read his latest release, Isolation. Do you like Stephen King? Then you'd love Travis Thrasher's horror stories. Creepy, psychological, and spine-tingling... And a 180 degrees different from his love stories.

Travis writes horror, romance, suspense, mystery... A little bit of everything. I both love his versatility and envy his ability to write masterfully on so many levels. No matter what you read, I think you could find a book by Travis you're bound to love. Check him out! And don't forget to leave a comment... Travis has agreed to give away a book (or two!). All you have to do is comment on this post. Let's make it interesting... Follow this link and let me know which one of Travis's books most appeals to you!

  1. Hey, Nicole!!

"Sky Blue" and "Watermark" look amazing. Actually, the others do too. I'm excited to check out Thrasher's books!

  2. Welcome back! Other than 3 by Ted Dekker (which I had to read during the daytime), I haven't really ventured into the "thriller" side of books. I think "Watermark" would be a good read as would "Sky Blue"

  3. Blinded, Admission & Gun Lake are the type of books that would appeal to my more more "mysterious" side.

  5. Hello Nicole!

  8. It's been a long time since I've read anything suspense/horror, so Isolation seems really interesting! It's also set in my home state. The NC mountains have a knack for horror stories, haha.

  9. Ghostwriter sounds a little bit like that movie Secret Window with Johnny Depp, the one adapted from a Stephen King book; and I love that movie. Although I was kind of sad to see Johnny Depp playing this psyched out murderer. Anyway, Ghostwriter sounds very intriguing. And The Promise Remains/The Watermark sounds like it would make my stomach flutter. And Sky Blue sounds mysterious and interesting for it's lack of description on the website (it makes me want to find out more). And, lastly, Isolation sounds creepy, but in a good way. I can't wait to get my hands on some of these books. Watch out Amazon! Haha. Actually, Books-A-Million has proven to me numerous times to have the best deals. :) Really excited about this guy, Nicole! Great pick! :D

  10. Okay, this doesn't really have anything to do with Travis's books, but I was trying to follow his blog and he doesn't have a Follow Me option on there. Is there a way to add someone when they don't have a Follow Me button? Thanks!

  12. I at first was going to choose Ghostwriter. But I think I'd prefer Gun Lake. Sounds like a lot of soul searching going on in this with convicts on the loose causing havoc.

  13. My favorite books of his are Three Roads Home (I have read it several times) and The Second Thief (I love the surprise). His books are well thought out and well told. I would like to read The Watermark, seems like my kind of book.

  14. I LOVE Travis' writing. My all time favorites are, The Promise Remains and The Watermark. I actually have both of the books you’re giving away but I’d still love to win them. Why…because I’m always telling others about his books and this way I could give them a copy instead. I hate borrowing mine out since there signed.

Make sure to read, Sky Blue as well.

I can’t wait to read his new book, Broken, coming out in May 2010.

  15. I think Sky Blue sounds pretty interesting. Though since I am trying to write and publish as well, maybe that isn't so surprising :)

  16. Wow! I'm hard-pressed to actually pick ONE. After reading through all the snippets, I would pick Isolation as my first choice. Ghostwriter and Gun Lake both sound intriguing as well!! I'm excited to have found another author to read!!

  17. I have never heard of him before, but they all look great! I refuse to read more than the little snippet shown, I don't read more than the first two sentences on the back of a novel either. I think it makes me think too much about what's coming while I'm reading instead of enjoying what I am reading at that moment. Anyway, from those 1 liners I read... Gun Lake looks great!

  18. How to choose between romance and a suspense novel? I'd like to read both!

  19. Hmmm...just one?? I guess if I had to pick, I'd choose The Promise Remains. Love stories are my favorite kind of stories, especially ones about love lost and coming together again (it's no wonder The Notebook is one of my favorite movies).

  20. Thanks for introducing another author! Gun Lake is the book that piqued my interest right away.

  21. Hi! My pick would be 'Isolation'-why? Because I'm a missionary from the UK, based in the USA with my whole family. As the second eldest daughter of four kids, things can get pretty fraught. I'm interested in the relationship element of the book, how that intersects with the house and what the affect is on their long-term relationships. I also love Ted Dekker - and think this could be a good distraction from the difficulties I sometimes face as a PK.

  22. These books look great! The Promise Remains and Watermark both look like ones I would enjoy, but Sky Blue would likely be my favorite. I always like finding out about different occupations, and that of a literary agent intruiges me... Plus, it looks like it has a lot of drama, which I like :)

  23. I would pick Isolation, Watermark, and Sky Blue. I would love to read any one of Travis's books but those would be at the top of the list. Thanks for making this opportunity available to us! Melissa

  24. I'm always excited to read a new author that comes highly recommended! His book, The Promise Remains appeals to my romantic side, but I'm also drawn to Blinded as a new book that I could put on the church library shelf that might especially appeal to more men in our church.

  25. they all look good, but definitely isolation or gun lake. in need of a good read.

  26. All of his books sound awesome (and somethign I could get my husband to read too...a feat, let me tell you!). I think Isolation grabs my attention the most though.

Thanks for introducing us to this exciting author!

  27. They all appeal to me, but the ones that stuck out were skyblue and isolation.
