Poetry in Motion

Sometimes a picture really is worth a thousand words. This is my oldest son, launching off the end of the dock during our recent lake vacation. Isn't he beautiful? A photo like this is enough to take my breath away. There's a poem in the frame. A story. An epic.

Do you have a picture that makes you sigh? I know you can't share it in the comment section of my blog, but I'd love a link or at least an explanation...

  1. Nicole,

I don't know if you can access the link, but here it is: http://www.flickr.com/photos/29796493@N08/3270378340/

My husband took this picture of our son over a year ago. I know he's my son and all, but I think it's a breathtaking photograph. Part of the reason is because of the story behind it. My father-in-law was in hospice and we took Griffin (our son) to see his Papa one last time. Griffin is usually such an animated and giggly little boy, but he looks so serious in this picture. It really does take my breath away every time I see it.

I love your pictures. Are you always that good of a photographer?

  2. Oh, Tracy, it is a breathtaking photograph! His little lips are in the sweetest, saddest pout... And those eyes. Wow. Blue like the sky. You have an adorable son!

As for my photography skill (or lack thereof), I think I get lucky. Granted, I seem to get lucky more and more these days, so maybe there is something in that old saying about practice... I have lots of practice! :)

  3. Awesome Awesome Picture! The lighting is so perfect. I don't have this picture posted anywhere but a picture that makes me sigh is one of my son around 5 monthes old smiling...He is nine monthes now. The picture is the first picture we have of him smiling and it was taken as he was in the hospital recovering from open heart surgery. He is in a peach hospital gown and has a feeding tube in his nose with tape plastered all over it but I love it all the same. He didn't smile much at all prior to this and one morning he just woke up all smiles and has been that way ever since : ). That and the picture of me and him when I really got to hold him 48 hours after he was born I love too.. even though I look a mess I love the look in my eyes... everytime I look at it I am transformed back to the whole experience.

  4. I have a pic. with all three of my girls stacked on top of me like pancakes in order of their ages. I love it. My husband ran for the camera and I didn't know it. My smile is natural. The girls have food on their faces.

It's one of my favorite pics. of me as a mom.
